About Us
South African born Andre and Cindy Fourie have been involved with horses since their childhood and were introduced to Saddlebreds soon after their marriage in 1988. Driven by their desire to learn more, and learn from the best, they came to the USA to work under George Knight at Oak Hill Farm. After returning to their homeland to train at Jurijan Stables for a year, they then accepted a position at Glenbrooke Farm, Petersburg WV and 5 years later at Leatherwood Farm, where they gained experience in breaking colts, training show horses, operating a riding academy and running the breeding operation.
In 1999 Andre Fourie Stables opened its doors to the public and offer training, sales, riding lessons and camps, as well as boarding facilities. Andre and Cindy have three children, Dre, Sarah-Ann and BJ, who are all active in riding and showing, and helping on the farm and with lessons. Being a family business, they largely focus on making the barn a family friendly environment.
Since embarking on this career path, the Fouries have worked with horses like RWC Leatherwood’s Starlight, RWC Bueno Day, WC Jesse Helms and multiple regional and local champions. They have also coached Equitation riders who have competed at the international level.
Members of the United Professional Horseman's Association (UPHA), The American Saddlebred Horse Association (ASHA), the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF), American Road Horse and Pony Association (ARHPA) the American Saddlebred Association of Virginia (ASHAV). Andre is also a USEF registered judging official in Saddlebred, Equitation, Roadster and Hackney pony disciplines.
